General Information

Miss Lu

While staying with us, dogs are housed in the pet owner’s choice of lodge, cabin or villa suites. All suites have natural light, air conditioning and heated, epoxy coated floors for warmth in the cold months and easy cleaning / disinfecting.

Dogs are fed twice a day; our automatic watering system provides them with a continuous source of fresh water.

We encourage you to bring a few of your pet's personal items to help their stay feel more at home. Pet's often act differently in a new environment and will chew, spill on or damage their belongings. Stone Mountain Pet Lodge is not responsible for damaged items. Please limit the personal items you bring to:

  1. One blanket or bedding item (no stuffed or upholstered beds, please)
  2. A total of 2 bones and/or toys (1 toy and 1 bone, 2 bones or 2 toys)
  3. Your pet's food pre-bagged for each meal during their stay.

We do have Kuranda beds and blankets that you can add-on to your package (see our full list of options & add-ons).

We recommend you send easily washable items that are permanently labeled. No irreplaceable items, please.

dog with prebagged food

Some benefits or pre-bagging your food:

  • Your pet is guaranteed to be fed the exact amount of food and treats as fed at home!
  • It takes the guesswork out of packing enough food for the whole stay!
  • Adding treats to the meal? They won't get too many or too few!

Some Tips:

  • Using Zip-loc bags avoids spills and keeps the food fresh!
  • Providing an extra meal or two is great in case of the unexpected need to stay an extra night.
  • There's no need to label the bags...unless the morning and evening meals are different!

Medical/Special Needs:

If your dog has special needs, such as a special diet or medications, qualified lodging staff will make sure those needs are met.

  • Please keep medications separate from meals.
  • There will be a Medications/Supplements fee.
  • Please see Medications/Supplements in our options & add-ons.

Stone Mountain Pet Lodge Night Lodging (Overnight Stays)

If you’re going out of town on vacation for a few days, but can't bring your dog along, finding a neighbor or friend willing to watch your pets can be tough. And even if they agreed to the task of watching them for you, you still might not feel good about leaving your pets cooped up with little human interaction for a week -- not to mention the accidents your pets are bound to have on the new carpet or hardwood floors you've just installed…

Standard SuiteStandard Suite Our Lodge suites are 4' x 6' on the inside with a sliding door that leads to their private 4' x 12' outdoor run. Soothing classical music is played around the clock.

Bedding is not provided in the Standard suites, but we encourage you to bring in anything from home whether it's your dog's bed, a blanket or even a nightgown! We feel that it eases your dog's transition to our place if they have something that smells like home. Please try to make it machine washable so we can clean it in case of an accident, and no irreplaceable items, please.

Toys are always welcome, so bring those in, too! Please note that the only restriction we have is if you bring in a rawhide for your dog, we'll take it away if it gets to a size where it can become a choking hazard.

The suites are sealed from the floor to the ceiling with an epoxy coating which makes it difficult for bacteria to grow, and also makes it easy for us to clean and disinfect. We have a 3-part epoxy floor with in–floor heat that keeps the floor a nice 70 degrees so everyone stays nice and warm in the cold months. An air conditioning system is employed for the warmer months.

Each suite has its own water spigot (fresh water is available at all times) and dedicated floor drain to ensure minimal mess in case of an accident. A window above every suite lets in plenty of natural light.

Every dog has 3 let-outs for potty breaks, to stretch and enjoy the day.  Let out times start at 7 am and end between 9 & 10 pm.

There are 14 of these suites and are best suited to first-time boarders, nervous dogs, or those that would like a little pampering. This area tends to be quieter than the Lodge suites since there are fewer dogs.

Nature scenes, bird sounds and classical music play in the background for dogs to enjoy.

A raised, chew–resistant Kuranda bed is included each of these suites, but if you'd like to bring in bedding from home as well, you're always welcome. paw-icon Things People Want To Know About Our Dog Lodging Program

No. You can make a reservation for as short as a few hours or as long as several months. All reservations are built around two plans; Day Lodge and Night Lodge. For more details, please visit our Lodging page.

Your pet will be closely checked upon arrival. Our ABKA certified staff will inform you of anything unusual we may find. If fleas or ticks are found, your pet will be treated prior to entering our facility for a nominal charge. We are extremely careful not to let fleas or ticks into Stone Mountain Pet Lodge. Owners will always be informed of any problems before the pet's departure.

Yes! We provide this service in the form of the Pet Taxi. Cost is determined by approximate distance from Stone Mountain Pet Lodge.

We have no minimum age for puppies or kittens, however we do require that they have completed the entire series of vaccines. This generally means that every puppy will be at least 16 weeks old. Sorry, we cannot make exceptions.

No! We now accept many different types of pets. For more details, please visit Exotic Pet Lodging.

Unlike some kennels, every dog has their own personal outdoor run. We don't let dogs go indoors because we believe that encourages bad behavior.

No, because this would make it impossible to keep the kennel heated or cooled effectively. However, your dog will get frequent trips to their own outdoor run throughout the day. Scheduled outdoor breaks start at 7 am and end between 9 & 10 pm.

A stay at Stone Mountain Pet Lodge includes a potty break three times a day, plus plenty of attention and love!
We do offer additional exercise and playtime options including a nature walk on our outdoor wooded walking path, 15 minutes of playtime in one of our outdoor play yards, or socialized play time in our Doggy Day Care program
(see our lodging options and add-ons section for more information).

Yes. We like to maintain our guests' routine feeding schedule. There is no charge for additional feedings.

Yes! Stone Mountain Pet Lodge is pleased to offer socialized play times. Dog owners can drop their pets off at Stone Mountain Pet Lodge for a “play date” with other dogs, or you can choose our individualized program. Dogs are screened for current vaccinations and temperament. Visit Doggy Day Care for more info.

Your preferred veterinarian will be contacted immediately. We will do as they advise. Any charges incurred in the treatment are your responsibility, while prompt, proper and attentive care of your pet is, of course, our responsibility. In an emergency, if your veterinarian's clinic is closed, we will use our best judgment in responding to the needs of your pet unless otherwise instructed by you or your pet's physician.

We strive to maintain up-to-date contact information including your home, cell and one other emergency number. We will try to contact you if a problem arises. In the event of a medical emergency, your preferred veterinary will be used. If your preferred veterinary clinic is unavailable or too far away (to be decided on a case-by-case basis), we will bring your pet to Blaine Area Pet Hospital (during the day) or Midwest Veterinary Specialty Group (during the night / weekends). Both veterinary clinics listed are located less than 10 minutes from Stone Mountain Pet Lodge.

All dogs and cats visiting Stone Mountain Pet Lodge require these immunizations. Vaccines must be given by a licensed veterinarian. First-time boarders should bring veterinarian documentation showing the due dates of the next immunization, which will be recorded for future reference.

Important Notice

Although we do not have a required minimum incubation period between the time vaccines are given and the beginning of your reservation, we strongly recommend getting any vaccines done at least 10–14 days prior to arrival at our facility. This gives the vaccine time to reach its full effectiveness to protect against illness.

We have no minimum age for kittens, however we do require that they have completed the entire series of vaccines. Sorry, we cannot make exceptions.

No! We now accept many different types of pets. For more details, please visit Exotic Pet Lodging.

Yes. We like to maintain our guests' routine feeding schedule. There is no charge for additional feedings.

Your preferred veterinarian will be contacted immediately. We will do as they advise. Any charges incurred in the treatment are your responsibility, while prompt, proper and attentive care of your pet is, of course, our responsibility. In an emergency, if your veterinarian's clinic is closed, we will use our best judgment in responding to the needs of your cat unless otherwise instructed by you or your pet's physician.

All cats visiting Stone Mountain Pet Lodge require these immunizations.

Orientations are done on Mondays - Thursdays and Saturdays for lodging dogs.

Orientation Day is a full day of care that lets your dog gradually acclimate to Doggy Daycare at Stone Mountain Pet Lodge. After starting the day in a private suite, your canine will receive a one-on-one assessment with one of our trained professionals to determine his or her comfort with our staff, evaluate social skills and play style, and will only then be introduced to the other daycare dogs to avoid overstimulation and make sure the group setting is the right fit.

If we find that the daycare setting is not exactly the right fit for your dog, or there are behavior issues you’d like to work on, we do have other options!

What is S.M.A.R.T Dog?

S.M.A.R.T. Dog stands for Staying Mentally Active with R+ Training. It is an alternative for group play in Doggy Daycare to provide your pup with dog led mentally stimulating activities.

Why should my dog do S.M.A.R.T Dog?

The goal for this program is to enrich the experience of your dog beyond group play. Your dog’s day consists of a variety of enrichment activities to tire them out both mentally and physically.

Due to the airborne nature of this disease, neighboring dogs boarded at Stone Mountain Pet Lodge are susceptible to the disease. Also known as Canine Cough or Kennel Cough. DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, Parvo)

A highly contagious disease caused by a virus that attacks the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems of dogs, usually spread through airborne exposure to the virus contained in respiratory secretions of an infected dog. Due to the airborne nature of this disease, neighboring dogs boarded at Stone Mountain Pet Lodge are susceptible to the disease. Also known as Canine Distemper.

Stone Mountain Pet Lodge By Facility Design

All of the concrete surfaces that your pets may come in contact with are sealed with a three part epoxy coating filling the pores of the concrete, which makes it difficult for bacteria to grow, and also makes it easy for us to clean and disinfect.

Bordetella and other illnesses are thought to result from airborne bacteria that is transmitted from dog to dog. Stone Mountain Pet Lodgehas four independent air handling systems to isolate the groups of pets within our lodging wings and eleven independent air handling systems throughout the entire facility. This isolates the groups of pets from each other.

Stone Mountain Pet Lodge’s ERV (energy recovery ventilator) systems bring in outside air that is warmed or cooled and distributes the air throughout the suites for a fresh and comfortable stay for your pet. This reduces the sharing of recycled air from pet to pet. Stone Mountain has in–floor heat in the suite areas that keeps the floor a nice 70 degrees so everyone stays nice and warm in the cold months. Floors dry completely and quickly when washed. This reduces the moist surfaces that bacteria like to grow on.

Stone Mountain Pet Lodge By Practice

Stone Mountain Pet Lodge requires Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella vaccinations on the best advice of the veterinary profession.

Stone Mountain Pet Lodge does not accept or allow association with the other pets, any pets that have any observable symptoms of Bordetella or any other illness.

Stone Mountain Pet Lodge’s cleaning and sanitizing is done daily and spot cleaning done hourly throughout the day. Tour us anytime we are open and satisfy yourself that the suites are clean. Suites are cleaned after each stay and rotated so they can “rest” in a clean state. Suite wings are rotated so complete “deep cleaning” can be done regularly. This means that your pet will normally stay in a clean, rested suite. The number of days “rested” may be a week or more but at times of peak occupancy may be less than a day.

Stone Mountain Pet Lodge In Spite of our Best Efforts

In spite of our best efforts, your pet may contract an illness before, during or after their stay at Stone Mountain Pet Lodge. We cannot guarantee your pet's health. Vaccinations sometimes fail to provide protection from illness. Putting your pet in any setting that puts them in the proximity of one or more potentially contagious dogs and the stress that results from a new experience can result in your pet contracting an illness. More frequent visits to Stone Mountain may increase your pet’s natural immunity and decrease your pet’s susceptibility to common illnesses.

Stone Mountain Pet Lodge will engage the services of a veterinarian (yours when possible) to treat your pet whenever reasonably deemed necessary, and will bill you for any veterinarian fees.

Stone Mountain Pet Lodge shall not be liable for sickness or injury contracted or suffered while you’re pet is boarded at this facility.

It is usually the drying that takes the longest. We use a combination of kennel drying and hand drying to get your pet dry then we have the haircut time or brushing time.

A grooming usually involves a hair cut of some sort other than just trimming the feet. A Bath is the same as a groom except there is no hair cutting.

We trim nails as short as the vein that runs through the nail allows. Sometimes we can recommend coming in more frequent or using the dremel to get them shorter.

The dremel is a sanding tool that allows us to take the nail shorter than just clipping alone. We use this to help keep your dog’s nails as short as possible.

Matting is what we call tangled hair. When your dog gets too long or there is undercoat that isn't being brushed out it can tangle and cause a lot of problems. It hurts your dog to try to de-matt that hair and shaving is usually the only way to get rid of the matting without causing your dog a lot of pain.

For most of your shorthaired breeds we recommend every 2-3 months, for dogs that require a lot of brushing like poodles, shih tzus etc we recommend every 6-8 weeks. This allows us to maintain the length and style that you like your pet to have without getting matted and needing to be shaved.

Grooming Prices By Breed -- Please Call For Quote

NOTE: All prices listed are BASE prices per above descriptions and are a "sight unseen" estimate. . These prices are for well behaved dogs that are groomed every 6 weeks.

Dogs that are groomed every 3 months or more require more time and effort to groom and will be charged additional fees due to animal aggression, condition of coat, matting or other factors. Charges could be 2 to 3 times the normal charges. At check-in, a groomer will review your dog's condition with you and provide a firm, final price before the groom begins.

Extra Time Dogs Note: Your pets groom or bath will normally be completed in 4 hours (usually less). We will call/text you when your pet is completed and ready for pickup. Extra Time Dogs are assigned to 2 appointment slots.

Rabies

A deadly disease caused by a virus that attacks the nervous system, usually spread by a bite from a rabid animal. Rabies vaccination is required by law (for dogs 16 weeks or older) the safety of our employees and other animals staying at Stone Mountain Pet Lodge.

Bordetella (Tracheobronchitis)

A bacterial infection typically caused by Bordetella bronchiseptica and two viruses called Parainfluenza virus and Adenovirus. The airborne organisms are inhaled by a susceptible dog and attach to the lining of the trachea and upper airway passages. Due to the airborne nature of this disease, neighboring dogs boarded at Stone Mountain Pet Lodge are susceptible to the disease. Also known as Canine Cough or Kennel Cough. Important Notice

Please note that many veterinarians administer Bordetella only upon request.

Please equip your dog with a leash and collar before you enter our facility. Do not bring your own treats at this time. The trainer will make recommendations on training equipment when classes start.

Pre-registering is required to enroll you in the class, and payment is due when you pre-register. Some classes fill quickly, so it is recommended to register early.

Class fees are NON-REFUNDABLE once the class you have registered for has begun. If notice is given before class starts, a 50% refund will be given. Class fees are not transferable.

Children under the age of 10 years old are not permitted to attend class unless an additional non-handler adult is in attendance for supervision. Junior handlers under the age of 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. All junior handlers must be able to control their dog.
